The heading of the piece I chose is “Wisconsin” in Serif typeface. It was written on the undergraduate application for University of Wisconsin-Madison’s admissions. The heading is also bold and large to attract the eye. The subtitles are written in Sans-Serif, which makes them easy to read. The letters in the subtitles do not have serifs, therefore, are called sans-serifs. The weight of the subtitles is medium.
I think the typography choices are effective in this piece because the admissions team is trying to get people to come to school at Wisconsin. A subtitle clearly states that the piece is an undergraduate application, and “Wisconsin” is written in big bold letters so prospective students know where they are applying. Just in case they didn’t get the hint, “University of Wisconsin-Madison” is written in sans-serif typeface at the very bottom.
